XGames Musical Acts and Afters

Grassroots x Never Summer Blacklight Bomber SnowboardStarting today, X Games Aspen 2019 kicks off on Buttermilk Mountain. Each night, the athletes will take off their skis, unstrap their snowboards, and head to the stage for some of the world’s top hip-hop and EDM concerts. Regular tickets are currently sold out but College Passes and Premiere Passes may still be available. For those not heading to Snowmass right now, never fear. Grassroots California is excited to bring you coverage throughout the weekend! “

Friday Night… YOUNG MULA, BABY! Lil Wayne returns to Buttermilk Mountain to slay Friday night’s concert and will also be performing at the after-party on Saturday, January 26th. Lil Wayne dropped “The Carter V” this past September which had been on hold since 2014. The album featured collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne’s daughter, Reginae Carter, the late XXXTentacion, and many more. “The Carter V” hit Number One in the US and has sold over a million copies to date. Lil Wayne currently holds a record for “‘The most entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart by a male solo artist’ with 109 entries”: a record previously set by the former King, Elvis Presley.

Chicago duo, Louis the Child will take the stage Sunday, January 27th as well as the night before at the Saturday after-party. Robby Hauldren and Freddy Kennet play “music that makes you happy”: tropidelic-trap and melodic grime if you will. The most recent releases include a 9-track EP featuring singles “Better Not feat. WAFIA” with over 2.3 million plays, “The City with Quinn XCII” with 400K plays, and “Dear Sense with MAX”, which is also the name of their current tour: the North American Dear Sense tour, which ends in Barcelona, Spain this February. To see where else you can catch this duo performing this year, check out their website and tour schedule.

We want someone to pull us closer, in the backseat of a Rover, and get some sheets off a mattress from a roommate back in Boulder. And if you don’t know those lyrics, we’re checking your pulse. The Chainsmokers are performing at the X Games on Saturday and the after-party on Friday! The duo proudly holds the title of “longest running number one single of 2016” for their seven-time platinum hit “Closer”. Along with other pop hits “Roses” and “Don’t Let Me Down”, the Chainsmokers, Alex Pall and Drew Taggart, have been nominated one of the best Pop Duos in the world with highly-recognizable songs and immense stage presence.

Who’s the best live act of 2018, according to the International Dance Music Awards? Kygo. Producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, DJ and entrepreneur, there’s not much this Norweigan workaholic can’t do. He recently hit over seven billion streams online and launched his own fashion brand, “Palm Tree Crew”. Kygo made history as the first house music performer to perform at an Olympics back in 2016 which makes him the perfect artist to perform at the first after-party on Thursday night. He’ll also close out the 2019 Winter X Games events on Sunday.
